Written Summary Structure

This style of summary is composed of the following…


1. Pick three topics from EACH reading assignment (One point should be the beginning of the chapter, another from the middle, and the other, from the end)


2. Write a paragraph for each of the three topics with at least three sentences describing the topic. Note: do not directly quote the author, instead put the author’s ideas into your own words.

Summary Resources

Errors to Avoid

1) Don’t forget to include Sections Titles

2) Don’t count the Section Title as a sentence It is not, it is only the title.

3) Don’t place the summary in Bullet Points One purpose of the Summary is to practice explaining design in your own words.

4) Don’t place the summary in a Numbered Lists

5) Don’t fill your summaries with direct quotes from the author Instead, place the author’s thoughts in your own words.

6) Don’t forget to run spellcheck before turning in file
